Kindergarten learns about Fire Safety Week

The week of October 5th – 10th is Fire Safety Week. The Kindergarteners learned about Fire Safety in class. At the end of the week, the students were given a bag of fire safety materials which included coloring books, crayons, stickers and bracelets. Thank you to Mr. Cole, father of Jonathan Cole who works for the Chicago Fire Department and Mr. Griffin, husband of Mrs. Griffin who works for the Bedford Park Fire Department. These two fireman supplied us with all the goodies that filled the bags!

Even Principal Spells was able to get a bag of goodies!

Kindergarten - Dressed for success!

February 10th was an exciting day in the Kindergarten class! We came to school dress for success to take our Kindergarten graduation pictures.

This day was also the 100th day of school! After our pictures were taken, we put on our 100 crowns and started our special activities.

...

Some of the fun things we did were – counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s, writing about what we wished we had 100 of, writing the numbers from 1 to 100, and completing a page for our class book “I Am 100 Days Brighter”. We also counted out 100 Fruit Loops and got to eat them all!

Dr. Seuss Day

Oh what a day it was when preschool celebrated Dr. Seuss day on March 1, 2013. Although we completed many activities here are a few pictures from our green eggs and ham activity.  Do you like green eggs and ham? We sure do!

Some faculty members also joined in the celebration. Ms. Griffin and Ms. Holland were Thing 1 and Thing 2, while Ms. Spells dressed as the Cat in the Hat. Thanks to all that participated in this Read Across America day and we look forward to celebrating again.

100 days of Kindergarten

On Thursday, February 7th, the Kindergarten class celebrated the 100th day of school with a variety of fun activities. We started the day by counting to 100 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s. In gym class, we did 100 exercises. We were able to write the numbers from 1 – 100!

Anthony and Matthew had perfect attendance for the first 100 days and were recognized with a certificate.

We completed this poem naming what we wish we had 100 of and what we will look like when  we are 100 years old!

We drew what we look like today and in 100 years.

We completed this project naming our favorite thing about Kindergarten in the first 100 days. At the end of the day, we went home with a certificate and pencil!
