Lee Spells Sr. Scholarship Benefit

When someone you love dies, you are left with memories that you hope will never fade. You want to remember that person for the good he did and you want to share this goodness with others. Lee E. Spells Sr. was a person who strongly believed in Catholic school education, had a passion for reading (especially books about ancient history), and would give freely to others even if it meant he had to do without. What better way to do this than to establish a scholarship in his name for students at St. Ethelreda School who exhibit this same passion for reading. Join us as we celebrate his life and keep those very precious memories alive for all to see what an impact his legacy will have on the education of present and future students at St. Ethelreda School.
What: The 2nd Annual Lee Spells Sr. Scholarship Benefit
Why: All proceeds will provide scholarships to students who love to read
When: Saturday October 3, 2015 @ 7:00pm

Parents, not only do you have access to your child's grades 24/7, but now at St. Ethelreda School, you also have access to your child's homework 24/7! Just go to your child's homeroom teacher's picture and click on the homework link. This page will list the homework assignments for all of your child's classes for the entire week. Remember, you can access www.stethelreda.org on your smartphone, computer, laptop, and tablet. This means no more missing homework!

Water Celebration 2014
Great news - Enrollment is strong at St. Ethelreda once again this school year!
Principal Spells has set an aggressive enrollment goal of 270 students. If that goal is met, then she'll take a bucket shower in front of the entire school in celebration.
It's call Water Celebration 2014!

That yellow sign on the bottom reads:

The First Day of School!
The first day of school is always special at St. Ethelreda School. We all meet outside the school.
Students find their teachers and group together for the first time of the new school year.
Principal Spells brings everyone together in a circle for a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
Finally, students enter St. Ethelreda School and the school year officially begins! We have a lot of fun photos from the ceremony and the fun this morning. Here's our photo set:
And of course, the first day of school means HAPPY PARENTS!

The first day of school!
School started today!
It was a beautiful morning to start school. Principal Spells led the ceremony before school for parents, student, and faculty. It was great to see so many alumni parents in attendance bringing the next generation of St. Ethelreda students to school.

Noadiyah Wins 1st Place in Bud Billiken Essay Competition!
Congratulations to Noadiyah J., who took the top prize in the essay competition of the Bud Billiken King and Queen Contest.
Even though Noadiyah didn't become Bud Billiken Queen, she reigned supreme as the 1st place winner for her essay on growing vegetables. Noadiyah was presented her award at the King and Queen Coronation ceremony on August 7th at the Museum of Science and Industry in front of her proud family and Principal Spells.
This Saturday, Noadiyah will represent St. Ethelreda School on the Royal Court float in the 2011 Bud Billiken Parade. You can watch the parade on WLS-TV Channel 7 or WGN Channel 9 starting at 10:00 am.
St. Ethelreda will be watching!
