Our Haiku Winner

We're very happy at St. Ethelreda to announce that 8th grader D'Asja C wrote a winning effort for a prestigious local haiku contest. The contest is held at www.haikufest.com and was entered by more than 2,500 students.

The haiku that D'Asja wrote and submitted won the "Poems of the World Summer" Award, which includes a $50 prize!

D'Asja's haiku is entitled "Art".

Art is amazing
Like the freedom of summer
Art brings warmth in me

We were lucky to interview D'Asja about her haiku... and victory.
Blog: Why did you enter the haiku contest?
D'Asja: To be honest... I wanted to win the prize!
Blog: What was the inspiration for your haiku?
D'Asja: I focused on art because my cousin draws.
Blog: Where will you be going to high school next year?
D'Asja: I'll be attending Noble Auburn Gresham College Prep.
Blog: And I assume you'll be a writer or artist or something like that when you grow up, right?
D'Asja: Oh no. I want to be an FBI agent!
Congratulations to D'Asja C and thank you to her teacher Mrs. Pass (both pictured below) for this wonderful story.

Great job D'Asja.
You make the whole school so proud.
